
Timo Strack, PhD
Timo Strack obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Viticulture, Enology, and Wine Economics from Geisenheim University (HGU) and the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU), Vienna.
Timo Strack is a practically trained and academically qualified viticulturist with a strong background in both research and applied vineyard management. He earned his Ph.D. at HGU in the Department of General Viticulture. Since 2022, Dr. Strack has been a postdoctoral researcher at HGU’s Department of Plant Breeding, where he is responsible for the rootstock breeding program, the coordination of field trials and the experimental winery, and leads the department’s phenotyping group. In addition to his extensive teaching activities, Dr. Strack is actively involved in several professional associations and committees, representing the institute in viticultural matters at national and international levels.
The research approaches in Dr. Timo Strack are grapevine rootstocks, viticulture, ecophysiology, grapevine breeding, abiotic stress, with intensive academic publication achievements.
