Jake Mowrer, Prof. Ph.D.
Dr. Jake Mowrer is a professor of soil chemistry and fertility at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX, U.S.A.
His research focuses on the cycling of carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus in soil. Improving the use and energy efficiency of plant nutrients and reducing the overall contribution of agriculture to greenhouse gas emissions are his research priorities. Current crops of interest include cotton, corn, rice, onions, and wheat. His extension work focuses on translation of the research of his department to the practicing farmer to improve the health, environment, and economics of the farming community. Dr. Mowrer has enjoyed many visits to Romania and hopes to spend more time there in the future. In his spare time he performs jazz music on guitar and mandolin and cares for rescued animals.
