
Rudi Cassini, DVM, Prof. PhD
Rudi Cassini, DVM, PhD, is Professor in Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases at the Department of Animal Medicine, Production and Health, University of Padova, teaching in the Veterinary Medicine Degree.
His main research topics concerns epidemiology and control of parasitic diseases, and specifically i) study of vector-borne parasitic diseases and ecology of associated arthropods; ii) economic evaluation of zoonotic parasitic diseases, through a One Health perspective; iii) epidemiology and control approach for endoparasites of ruminants to prevent anthelmintic-resistance; iv) ecology of the host-parasite interactions in domestic and wild animal populations. He has participated and contributed with oral communications to numerous national and international conferences and workshops across the world and took part in meetings of 3 different COST Actions: Euro-FBP, NEOH, COMBAR. He published more than 80 papers in international peer-reviewed journals.
Prof. Cassini is Delegate of the Director for the EAEVE and for the International Relationships at his Department. He is President of the Italian Society for Wildlife Ecopathology (SIEF) since January 2025 and member of the Italian Society for Parasitology (SOIPA) since 2006. He gained also deep experience in the field of international cooperation, collaborating with NGO and research organisations in different countries in Africa (i.e., Algeria, Benin, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique, South Africa).
After attending many trainings on innovative teaching methods (e.g., PBL, TBL, student assessment, virtual exchange), he contributed to the development of an international initiative named iPLEX promoting the virtual and physical exchange of students, through the use of student-centred learning methods. The iPLEX course is a Blended Intensive Program, funded by Erasmus+.
