Franco Roperto, Prof. PhD.
Prof. Franco Roperto was born in Conflenti (CZ). He is Full Professor of Veterinary General Pathology at Veterinary Medicine and Animal Production Department of Naples University Federico II.
He was Dean of the Veterinary Medicine Faculty of Naples University Federico II, from 2001 to 2007, and President of Technical Committee for the Veterinary Medicine degree at “Magna Graecia” University of Catanzaro, from 2001 at 2010.
He was President of the Italian Society of Veterinary Pathology and he is a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Pathology.
He is President of the Board of Directors of the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale del Mezzogiorno, Portici, Naples, Italy.
In 2022, he was awarded the title of “Doctor honoris causa” by the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Cluj-Napoca University, Romania.
He was a member (2007-2012) of the national committee “Agricoltura Biologica e Sicurezza Alimentare” (Organic Agriculture and Food Safety) at the Italian Minister of Agriculture.
He was a member (2012-2018) of the national committee “Comitato Nazionale per la Sicurezza Alimentare” (National Committee for Food Safety) at the Italian Minister of Health.
He was visiting professor at the: Department of Molecular Physiology and Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut (USA);Department of Genetics, Faculty of Biology, Salzburg University, Austria;Department of Clinical Transmission Electron Microscopy, Faculty of Medicine, Bologna University, Italy.
He is member of the Editorial Board of Veterinary Research Communication and of Scientific Committee of the Società Italiana di Medicina Preventiva; he is member of Scientific Committee of the Società Italiana delle Scienze Veterinarie. He is Referee on behalf of the Commissione Interministeriale per la Valutazione sulla Ricerca (CIVR). Currently he is Referee for Veterinary Research Communication, Veterinary Pathology, Veterinary Record, Journal of Comparative Pathology, Research in Veterinary Sciences, Theriogenology; Pathogens; Viruses; International Brazilian Journal of Urology, Analytical and Quantitative Cytochemistry and Histochemistry, BJU International, Oncogene.
