Attila Cristian Rațiu, Ph.D., is Assistant Professor at the Department of Genetics, Faculty of Biology, University of Bucharest. His main areas of interest are Drosophila, transposons and Genomics.
Attila Cristian Rațiu graduated in 2004 the Biotechnology section of the Faculty of Zootechny and Biotechnology, University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and afterward he completed the master (2006) and Ph.D. (2010) degrees at the Faculty of Biology, University of Bucharest. He is primarily involved in using Drosophila melanogaster experimental model for disease and bacterial infections modelling, as well as exploring the dynamics of genomic transposon landscapes and their role in genome evolution. He was also involved in Clinical Genomics at Genetic Lab, Bucharest, Romania, as head of the Sequencing Department, where he oversaw various projects, including targeted and whole-exome/whole-genome NGS sequencing and data analysis.
