António Luís Mendonça Tavares
Mr. António Luís Mendonça Tavares has a strong involvement in the associative movement, having held the positions of President of the FPAS (Federação Portuguesa de Associações de Suinicultores) between 1986 and 1988, and Director of the CAP (Confederação dos Agricultores de Portugal), from 1985 to 1991.
On behalf of the pig producers, he was the leader of the process of eradication of African Swine Fever in Portugal. Mr. António Luís Mendonça Tavares was a speaker in more than 200 workshops and conferences, in Portugal and abroad. He published several papers on pig farming and European agriculture. He is Member of the “Forecast of Pork Meat” Working Group in the European Commission in Brussels since 1986 until now. Chairman of the COPA-COGECA Working Group for Pork and pig meat (European Commission) since 1995 until now. Member of the Meat Market Observatory since 2015 until now. Organization and councilor of the CT Consulting, Lda., in order to collaborate in the development of applications for EU funds, under the PDR 2020 and under the EU promotion programs. Consultant of Interporc, the Spanish Interprofessional branch of the pig chain in Spain, for international affairs. Involvement in several discussion groups to eradicate African Swine Fever in this current outbreak in Europe, since 2014. Coordinator of several Agri promotion programs for both internal and external markets.
