Agnes van den Pol-van Dasselaar, Prof. Ph.D.
Dr. Agnes van den Pol-van Dasselaar is a professor of Grasslands at Aeres University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands.
She obtained her PhD with a thesis on ‘Methane emissions of grasslands’. Subsequently, she worked for Wageningen UR for 20 years on greenhouse gas emissions and grazing. Since 2015, she has been active for Aeres University. Her research encompasses all aspects of grasslands. She is particularly interested in the different functions of grasslands (ecosystem services), the mindset of cattle farmers and their environments and how this influences the different ecosystem services, as well as multi-stakeholder processes.
On behalf of Aeres University of Applied Sciences, she leads several large national research projects, such as ‘Knowledge for grasslands and grazing’ and ‘Healthy Grazing’, and is the national coordinator of EU projects like ‘Pathways’ and ‘Grazing4AgroEcology’. Besides employees and students of Aeres, many other parties from the Netherlands and abroad are involved in these projects. Agnes is also active in the European Grassland Federation (EGF). After chairing the EGF Working Group ‘Grazing’ for 15 years and serving as the President of the European Grassland Federation for 2 years, she was elected Federation Secretary in 2024.
