José Ramón Arévalo Sierra, Ph.D.
José Ramón Arévalo, professor of Ecology at the University of La Laguna (Canary Islands – Spain) and Head of the Department of Botany, Ecology y Plant Physiology. His research interests deal with the impact of plant invasive species on the ecological processes and analysis of the biology of invasive species in order to provide tools for the eradication. He is also working with the impact of fire in the ecosystems and also the impact of goat grazing in the biodiversity.
He has been visiting professor at the University of California-Davis and the University of Nuevo León (México), and also assistant professor at the University of Oklahoma. He has published more than 100 papers in indexed journals of the JCR, coauthor of 4 books, coeditor of 1 book and editor of 1 book. He has been Principal Researcher of 4 national projects and more than 12 contracts with the administration and the government of Canary Islands. He is the coordinator of the research group “Invasive Species: Interinsular Research Group”.
