Emilio Caprio was Graduated in Biological Sciences with honors, specialized in Microbiology and Virology with honors; then he obtained the PhD in Agrarian Entomology (2000)
Researcher at the Department of Agriculture of the University of Naples Federico II since 2002 and Assistant Professor of the “Beekeeping” course since 2007. From 2010 to present he has been appointed by the Ministry of Health as Expert in the Advisory Commission for Phytosanitary Products and since 2012 consultant of the National Institute of Health for the aspects of effectiveness for the registration of plant protection products accompanied by dossier of annex III of the legislative decree 194/95. Promoter for Erasmus Program with the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Cluj-Napoca (Romania) since 2009. He mainly deals with biomolecular and cytogenetic methodologies applied to the study of insects and bee pathologies, as well as the effectiveness of plant protection products and environmental pollution using honey bees and their products. There are several awards and prizes obtained including the prestige of the “Cozzarelli Price” granted by the National Academy of Science (USA) with the work Neonicotinoid clothianidin adversely affects insect immunity and promotes replication of a viral pathogen in honey bees released to the first six articles of 2013 distinguished by originality and scientific excellence (2014). He has coordinated several research projects and since 2016 he is part of the Editorial Board of the Bulletin of the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca.
