Dr Susana Lorán, Ph. D.
I am an assistant profesor, with main expertise in Food hygiene, at the Animal Production and Food Science Department of the University of Zaragoza (Spain). I am also researcher of the AgriFood Institute of Aragon (IA2) and member of the Consolidated Research Group A01- Analysis and Evaluation of Food Safety (Gobierno de Aragón, Spain).
My research interests mainly include the risk analysis and control of chemical hazards in the food chain. In the last years I have been performing scientific activities with molds and mycotoxins, investigating mycotoxin contamination in raw materials, feeds and foods, as well as searching for methods for the prevention and reduction of mold growth and mycotoxin production. Other research topic I am involved in deals with the evaluation of the antimicrobial activity of natural plant extracts.
I have mentored a number of PhD, graduate and undergraduate students, and co-authored chapters in two books, and over 50 peer-reviewed papers, abstracts and reports in refereed journals and proceeding books.
